Gog and Magog

Many prophecy students place the battle of Gog and Magog at some point during the tribulation period.  However, there is reason to believe it occurs at the end of Jesus' millennial reign on earth from Jerusalem.  This view is supported by scripture Rev 20:7-9, and it also solves some problematic aspects of Ezekiel's prophecy.  For example Ezek 39:10-11 where God says that those who live in Israel will burn the weapons for 7 years, and not take any wood from the fields and forests.  If the weapons were metaphorical and really meant tanks, fighter planes, armored personnel carriers etc. there would be no wood to burn.  But if the battle occurs after Jesus' reign there would have been a thousand years of peace on earth where man will learn war no more Mic 4:3.  Satan is loosed for only a short time Rev:20-7 so there will not be time to redevelop the technologies of war, so he and Gog will have to resort to the brutal hand to hand weapons of the past, bows, swords and spears.

Now, prophecy may have more than one fulfillment and I don't know everything; but it is hard to imagine Israel between now and the tribulation being described as living in safety and having neither bars nor gates even with a 7 year treaty with the Beast.  However, after a thousand years of Jesus ruling with an iron rod Psa 2:9 Israel will indeed have been gathered from the nations, living in peace and prosperity, without fear because the Lord Jesus will be their God, ruling over the earth from amongst them Zech 14:9.
